My Front Page Experience

On Saturday, Feb. 6 at 1:00pm EST, my Openwork Crochet Fingerless Mitts were featured on the Front Page of Etsy.

Call me stupid, call me silly...but I actually cried because I was so excited and happy to see something I created there.

I still half expect someone to purchase something from me and leave me feedback saying, "This person doesn't know what they're doing! She's only pretending she's artistic! She can't crochet or knit worth beans!"

I wonder if all crafters feel like that. Do they know they're good? Or do they have doubts, like I do?

I know it's a self-confidence thing. I've gotten so many compliments on my work and all of my feedback is wonderful....I guess I need to work on that, huh? ;)

Without further adieu, here's a picture of my Front Page!

You can see that my wonderful friend, Joy of littlemissfrilly shared the spotlight with me. That was the icing on the cake. :)

  1. Congratulations on making it to the front page!! That's so wonderful!
I still sometimes worry that people will hate things I've made, or that they're simply not good enough...
I don't think it goes away, but it does get easier. Keep at it! ^-^

  2. Congrats :D!! I haven't made it to the front page yet but I think I would also cry if I ever did make it!!! And I think as hobbyists, we all have some doubts in our own creations. But I always regained my confidence whenever someone made a purchase :)!

  3. Congratulations on making it to the front page!!! I know exactly what you mean about the confidence thing, I feel the same way. It's so hard to put yourself "out there" with your work, yet it's pretty rewarding when you make a sale or get a compliment. And I love those mitts - very unique!

  4. that's wonderful that you made it to the front page. The fingerless gloves are lovely! I know what you mean about wondering if people will actually like the things you make. Is so nerve-wracking. It's funny, I haven't had many sales at all from etsy, but when people see my things in person, they seem to want them. If only I could translate that on-line!

  5. Congratulations! There's nothing wrong with being excited - one would have to be pretty jaded not to feel special when picked for the spotlight.

I've nominated you for the Sunshine Blog Award: http://inspirationalbeading.blogspot.com/2010/02/poster-sketch-power-of-sunshine.html
